Runway 27 - Windhoek International Airport 13.53 hrs 16th September 2015
This was what the pilots saw as they were ten feet off the runway on landing at Windhoek, well they didn't actually see a very rough sketch but you get the picture.......
...... yes, it's a troop of baboons that raced across the runway just as we were about to touch down. The pilot aborted the landing, applied full power and climbed hard, flew around a bit while the ground staff chased the baboons back into the bush and made a most wonderful announcement before landing perfectly.
"This is your captain speaking ........ well that was exciting! British Airways apologises for the delay in landing due to baboons on the runway. The crew and I hope you enjoyed the flight and welcome you to Namibia."
